Chromosome Disorder Outreach Inc. is a non-profit organization founded and directed by parents of children with rare chromosome disorders. Our mission is to provide support to anyone affected by these disorders, and to promote research and positive community understanding. CDO envisions a time in the not too distant future when doctors will have a great deal of information available on each and every chromosome disorder. They will be able to tell parents symptoms associated with a particular deletion, duplication or other disorder as well as what not to worry about. It is also our hope that appropriate therapies or other treatments will be recommended specific to particular disorders and that affected individuals will have a much greater chance of a fuller life. This is already beginning to happen and it is CDOs goal to further support this research in any way possible. We are also fortunate to have the assistance of a medical advisory board composed of geneticists, genetic counselors, grief counselors, speech language pathologists and other professionals—all of whom believe so strongly in our mission, that they volunteer their time to help CDO’s families.
Your donation supports the management of all the organization’s programs and support vehicles—including the CDO website, Facebook, library, newsletter, family helpline, family matching, general information mailings and much more.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to CDO, help us keep running smoothly and reaching out to new families in need.
